Ceramic Flowers
Flowers can show us beauty in the most unexpected places and can represent that even in death, life will go on.
Ever since I was a child, I have viewed flowers as an almost sacred entity. They have a brief life that is touched with beauty. They don’t necessarily accomplish a lot, but they make a space beautiful, and they make a lot of people happy. I feel as though I want my impact to be that of a flower: I may not live long or be able to do much, but if I can make a place beautiful and make some people happier, then I will be satisfied.
Ceramic Bodies
No matter what I do, I have always found myself coming back to the female form. Many of these forms are self-portraits made out of a wheel-thrown vessel or built solid. I enjoy stretching and bending clay so that I can respond to what the clay wants to do as well as making each form my own.
Vases
I have enjoyed making sculptural vases over the years. I see a cylinder-thrown vessel not as the end of a process but as the beginning. From there I love to make bodies and fish and see how much clay can be manipulated in its many forms.
